Built by a Teacher. Powered by a Team That Gets It.

Why I Started Exceptional Path
My passion for helping students with executive function challenges stems from my own experience. As a kid, I was a good student — but I was forgetful, disorganized, and scattered. I remember too many nights that ended in panic, late-night scrambles, and tears of frustration.
With the help of a patient mother, I always managed to get the work done in the end. My grades were above average. But the process was brutal.
High school was more of the same. I struggled with deadlines, writing papers, and studying for tests. I prioritized sports over school work, often doing the bare minimum to scrape by
When college came around, I knew something had to change or I was going to fail out. So I committed myself to figuring out how my brain actually works. I became obsessed with learning how to learn — reading everything I could find, experimenting with every tip, trick, and shortcut out there. Slowly, with persistence and a lot of trial and error, I got better.
That’s when it hit me: school expected me to know and apply the content, but nobody ever taught me the skills I needed to acquire it. I didn’t know how to study, plan, prioritize, stay focused, ask for help, or get organized. I had to figure all of that out on my own.
That discovery changed the direction of my life. I became a special education teacher and made it my mission to teach students how to build the habits, routines, and skills that would save them from the same unnecessary struggle I went through.
Over 20 years later — 17 years teaching in public, private, and international schools, plus 5 years running Exceptional Path — I’ve worked with thousands of students. Everything I learned in the classroom directly informs how I coach and how I train every coach on my team.

How We’re Different From Every Other Coaching Company
Most executive function coaches out there have read the books but never lived it. They’ve never stood in front of a classroom, sat across from a frustrated parent, or watched a student shut down because nobody taught them how to study.
We’re practitioners, not theorists.
Every coach on this team is a teacher, a special education professional, or a trained specialist with years of hands-on experience working with students who learn differently. This isn’t a side hustle — it’s what we do.
I personally train every coach
The methods we use at Exceptional Path aren’t pulled from a textbook. They’re built from over 20 years of working one-on-one with students — figuring out what actually works through thousands of hours of trial and error. Every coach on this team learns the same system and the same approach.
We build real systems, not vague advice.
Shared documents, planning tools, assignment trackers, accountability check-ins — we teach students exactly how to use them. When we’re done, they don’t need us anymore. That’s the goal.
We use school as the platform to practice life skills.
The planning, organizing, time management, and self-awareness students develop in coaching don’t just apply to school. These are transferable skills that carry into relationships, careers, and every part of their future.
We get results.
Better grades, less stress, more independence. Most families see real improvement within the first semester, with skills fully solidifying over 6–12 months.
